Most adults spend a significant portion of their lives at work, making the workplace an ideal setting to promote physical activity. Since 1946, DANISH COMPANY SPORT has been dedicated to ensuring that sport and exercise are integral parts of the work environment.
Research shows that twice as many people are willing to engage in exercise when it is offered during working hours when compared to their free time. Additionally, while a person’s socio-economic background greatly influences their level of exercise in their leisure time, it has far less impact at work. This demonstrates that major health benefits can result from the provision of company sport – and a healthier workforce can only benefit employers.
Working in tandem with 79 local company sports associations, volunteers, and industry organizations, DANISH COMPANY SPORT strives to ensure that free and affordable sports opportunities are available to all employees, regardless of socio-economic background, experience, or branch of industry. In collaboration with like-minded partners, DANISH COMPANY SPORT aims to keep employees moving from internship to retirement.
Recognizing that too many workers experience physical wear and tear, DANISH COMPANY SPORT advocates for preventive exercise and training programs, particularly in industries that place high physical demands on employees. The organization also lobbies for structural changes that make exercise and movement an integral part work environment. Further information is available here
