Charlotte Bach Thomassen is the Chairperson of the Danish Gymnastics and Sports Associations (DGI), Denmark’s largest grassroots sports organisation, with 6,4000 member clubs and 1.3 million members. After previously serving as Deputy Chair, she took on her current role in 2019. During her time at DGI, the organisation has transformed into a dynamic, proactive body with a strong advocacy role and a decentralised structure that remains closely connected to its grassroots clubs and members.
Raised in the town of Grindsted, Bach Thomassen graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 2004. She has previously served as General Secretary of the Danish Scout Corps and has been a board member of TV 2 Danmark, the public Danish gaming company Danske Spil A/S, and Madkulturen (Food Culture), a public body focused on food and nutrition.
Charlotte Bach Thomassen’s role includes working with the Danish Government and Parliament, local municipalities, and other organisations to ensure the best conditions for the country’s sports associations. Her interests include winter bathing and running.
