Managing Director

EIR

Majken Gilmartin is the founder and Managing Director of EIR, a leading international provider of grassroots football for women with a global community of 19,000 players. Currently, EIR operates in 17 countries and has hosted 25 tournaments across the world. Gilmartin also co-founded the women’s Global Goals World Cup and Sensational League and helped design the Global Goals ball—a football specifically tailored for female players that reduces the risk of injury and increases game speed. EIR’s new Saga Sports Group is a trend-focused sports business that aims to help organisations navigate industry disruption and capture new opportunities.

Gilmartin has played a prominent role in over 100 international events that advocate for women’s rights in sport and highlight its global impact. In collaboration with the UN, national governments and the private sector, she and her EIR team continue to develop and expand safe sporting spaces and programmes for female football players across the globe.

A former football player and a certified coach, Gilmartin has also worked as a film producer and was previously Head of Sports at Copenhagen Municipality.  Additionally, she was the first female board member of B93, the oldest football club in Denmark. Her awards include the IOC’s Women and Sport Trophy for Europe, the Ceny SDG Award from the Czech Republic, Denmark’s SDG Inclusivity Award, and the POWER TOGETHER Award from the Reykjavik Global Forum. She is based in both the US and Copenhagen.
